Welcome to Classy Conclusion, a little blog about the big job of teaching children.
Classy Conclusions takes a compassionate look at the role of the public school teacher in the American heartland. Its purpose is to be a lighthearted soundboard of inspiration with a smidge of reflection. It is my hope that the views written here will help everyone understand that teaching today is a remarkably serious business, and our kids today are either remarkably bright or remarkably challenged, or just simply remarkable!
Whether teaching is cloaked in cooperative learning, brain-based learning, project-based learning, or any other form, it’s the compassionate educator that creates the environment for that learning to take place. But its also the compassionate educator that sometimes needs a gentle reminder that its going to be okay; life goes on; and yes, teachers do make a difference in this world.
There are many excellent blogs which I have read that help teachers find activities to teach today’s curriculum, but this blog is to help you find and celebrate the excellent teacher that you can be, that you already have become.
So if you are able to take a break from all that lesson planning, assessment checking, curriculum writing, and those lovely teacher meetings (!) then please join me each week for a little chalkboard chat. Oh, who am I kidding, no one uses chalkboards anymore! But I do hope you’ll join me anyway!
